At 8:30 am we will pick you up at your accommodation or at the agreed point in Marrakech to begin the excursion of 5 days and 4 nights during Christmas and Christmas EveWe will travel southeast through Morocco, crossing the majestic High Atlas Mountains and the famous Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m), the highest road pass in North Africa. Its name comes from Tamazight and means "difficult mountain pass." Along the way, we will stop to enjoy the spectacular views and take photographs of the landscapes and valleys. We will also visit a women's argan oil cooperative, where we will learn about the traditional extraction process and its many benefits. We will continue south along secondary roads, surrounded by Berber villages, until we reach Aït Ben Haddou, Morocco's most famous fortified ksar, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. We will have time for lunch and to visit the kasbah, the setting for numerous films and television series, including... Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Sodom and Gomorrah (1963), Jesus of Nazareth (1977), The Jewel of the Nile (1985), High voltage (1987), The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), The Mummy (1999), Gladiator (2000), Alexander the Great (2004), The kingdom of heaven (2005), Babel (2006), Prince of Persia (2010), Game of Thrones (2011) and The Queen of the Desert (2015). In the afternoon, we'll head to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the desert and a city of cinema. There you'll find the Atlas Film Studios (optional entry: €8 per person) and the Taourirt Kasbah (entrance: €5; optional local guide: around €10). The route continues along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs towards Skoura and then on to the Valley of Roses. If you travel in May, you might catch the famous Rose Festival; the rest of the year, you can visit shops and cooperatives that produce rosewater-based products. Finally, we'll arrive in the Dades Valley, where we'll stay in a hotel overlooking the valley. If you wish, you can take a leisurely stroll to a small nearby waterfall. Hotel accommodation with dinner and breakfast included.
After breakfast, we'll depart for Tinghir to explore the spectacular Todra Valley. We'll make a scenic stop to admire its breathtaking landscapes before continuing to the famous Todra Gorge, with its towering rock walls reaching up to 300 meters high. You'll have time to walk through the gorge while we wait for you at the end of the tour. We will continue our journey through several Berber villages, such as Tinjdad, until we reach Malaab, where we will stop at a local shop run by Berber women. There, you will have the opportunity to dress in traditional clothing for photos, pose with the Amazigh flag, and purchase souvenirs, gifts, or typical desert turbans. Later, we will arrive in Touroug, where we will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we will continue to Erfoud, known for its artisanal marble and fossil production. The visit is optional, depending on the time available and the group's interest. Finally, we'll head to the desert to experience the magic of the Merzouga dunes (Erg Chebbi). There, we'll exchange our vehicle for camels for an unforgettable ride across the dunes while watching the sunset. Upon arrival at the Berber tent camp, a magical night under the stars awaits you. Dinner and accommodation will be in the tents of the Erg Chebbi desert, offering a unique experience: an unforgettable night under the starry sky, with a live drum music show and a bonfire after dinner.
At dawn, we'll climb a dune to witness the sunrise over Erg Chebbi, an unforgettable spectacle. After breakfast, we'll return to the starting point by camel or 4x4. Optionally, you can enjoy sandboarding on the dunes or take a quad or buggy excursion (activity not included: single quad €40/hour, double €60/hour, double buggy €120/hour with guide and fuel). Afterwards, we'll begin a 4x4 route around the Merzouga Desert, following part of the Dakar Rally track. We'll visit desert nomads, where we'll share a welcome tea and have the opportunity to contribute a small tip or purchase their handicrafts. We will continue to the abandoned village of Mifis, a former mining center, from whose hills there are exceptional panoramic views. Lead and kohl mines are still in operation, with shafts up to 50 meters deep. The route continues to Khamlia, known as the village of the Gnawa, descendants of sub-Saharan tribes. There, we'll enjoy their traditional music and dances while sipping mint tea. Leaving a tip or purchasing a music CD is recommended. Afterward, we'll pass through Taouz and head toward the Ouzina Desert. At midday, a Berber family will welcome us into their home, where we will enjoy a traditional lunch consisting of salad or noodles, Berber pizza, and welcome tea. After lunch, there will be free time to relax, stroll through the oasis, and experience the daily life of the village. You will also have the option of getting a henna tattoo from a local specialist (tips recommended). In the afternoon, we'll settle into a hotel in the heart of the Ouzina Desert. From there, you can choose between: climbing a nearby mountain (45 min up / 40 min down) to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic sunset, walking to the Erg Ouzina dunes to watch the sunset, or relaxing on the hotel terrace by the pool, with magical views of the desert. Hotel accommodation in Ouzina with dinner and breakfast included.
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll depart for Nkob, enjoying a day full of contrasts between desert landscapes, oases, and traditional villages. Our first stop will be in Rissani, one of Morocco's oldest cities and the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty, where the roots of the ancient sultans lie. If our visit coincides with one of its market days (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday), we'll have the opportunity to explore its lively souk. It's also open on other days, though less bustling. During the visit (approximately a one-hour walk), we'll discover local products such as spices, dates, handicrafts, jewelry, and even animals for sale—a true reflection of daily Moroccan life. Before continuing, we'll stop to photograph the famous Desert Gate at the edge of town. We will continue our journey through the characteristic pre-desert landscapes of southern Morocco, dotted with Berber villages. We will arrive in Alnif, where we will stop for lunch. Afterward, we will continue to Nkob, known as the city of 45 kasbahs. The town is surrounded by two palm-filled oases, giving it a unique charm. Upon arrival, we will be welcomed with tea by the pool. You will have free time to relax at the hotel or take a stroll through the town and its surroundings, enjoying the magic of the colors at sunset in this historic region. Hotel accommodation in Nkob with dinner and breakfast included.
After breakfast, we'll depart from the hotel towards the spectacular Drâa Valley, the longest in Morocco, stretching from the mountains into Mauritania and even reaching the famous White Beach of Agdz. We'll stop to enjoy the panoramic views, take photographs, and admire the extensive palm groves and kasbahs that make this valley a truly unique place. We will continue our journey across the Anti-Atlas Mountains, passing through the Aït Saouen pass (1,660 m altitude), where we will enjoy breathtaking mountain scenery. We will arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the “gateway to the desert,” and from there we will begin our return to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains again via the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m), making stops to admire the spectacular panoramic views. In the afternoon, you'll arrive in Marrakech. We'll drop you off as close as possible to your accommodation and, if necessary, contact the riad or hotel staff to arrange your pick-up. You'll have the afternoon free to explore Jamaa el Fna square and the medina, soak up its magical atmosphere, and have dinner at one of its traditional restaurants.
